Kimpton Lands in Malaysia: IHG’s Luxury Lifestyle Brand Comes to Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur’s skyline is always changing. But every now and then, a name pops up that makes us pause — not because it’s flashy, but because it feels different. Kimpton Naluria is one of those names. And come late 2025, this new hotel is set to open in the heart of the city’s growing TRX district.
If you’ve heard of Kimpton, you probably know it’s not your usual luxury hotel brand. They’re known for blending great design with a kind of relaxed hospitality that makes you feel at home, even if you're far from it. No over-the-top service, no stiff uniforms — just real, human connection and well-made spaces. Now they’re bringing that energy to Kuala Lumpur, with a hotel that’s meant to feel as instinctive as it is joyful. That’s literally what the name Naluria means — a mix of the Malay words naluri (instinct) and ria (joy). A nice touch, especially in a city that thrives on both grit and grace.
Location-wise, they’ve chosen TRX — the new financial district — surrounded by glass towers, greenery, and the ever-moving pace of the capital. But Kimpton Naluria isn’t chasing the corporate crowd. It's aiming to be something softer around the edges — a space to pause, gather, eat well, or just let KL buzz around you while you stay still.
Inside, the hotel will have 466 rooms, four places to eat and drink (including a rooftop bar called Four Siblings), and even a retro Italian-American restaurant tucked away somewhere — we’re curious about that one. The design is being handled by Hassell Studio, who are known for mixing texture, light, and nature into urban settings. Expect big windows, earthy materials, and a lot of thought in the details.
Kimpton’s signature touches will be there too: complimentary coffee and tea in the morning, social hour in the evening, and a helpful front desk that doesn’t blink when you ask for toothpaste or something you forgot to pack. These little things don’t sound like much—but when you’re far from home, they matter.
Then there’s the food. Four distinct venues will be spread across the hotel, including Four Siblings, a rooftop bar and lounge with skyline views. Their all-day-dining concept, Tuai + Till, will shift from laid-back café vibes to brasserie-style dining. There’s also a retro Italian-American spot in the works—an unexpected twist that could be a new KL favourite.
Behind the scenes is Paul Cunningham, a hotel veteran with years of experience across Asia. His plan? To create a space that feels alive — where travellers, locals, and curious passersby can cross paths and feel welcome.
KL already has its share of high-end hotels. But Kimpton Naluria might just fill a different kind of gap — not louder or bigger, just more honest. The kind of place you stay not because it’s the most luxurious, but because it makes sense. It fits.
And in a city as layered and evolving as this one, that’s saying something. We’ll be keeping our eye on this one.
Born in San Francisco in 1981, Kimpton was the first to shake up the hotel scene in the U.S. with the idea that hotels could feel more personal, more artful, and a lot less cookie-cutter. Think design-forward rooms, thoughtful perks, and spaces that feel more like homes than lobbies. Today, Kimpton runs over 75 boutique hotels and 100+ restaurants and bars across the globe — all rooted in one simple idea: human connection matters. Now part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle family, Kimpton brings its signature style to places that crave a bit of soul — whether it’s a buzzing city or a quiet retreat. Every Kimpton stay is unscripted, relaxed, and designed to feel like it was made for you.
