Martinhal Lisbon Oriente & Residences – A Modern Retreat in Parque das Nações
There’s something magnetic about Lisbon’s Parque das Nações—a district where modernity meets the serenity of the riverside. And right at the heart of it, Martinhal Lisbon Oriente and Martinhal Residences invite you into a space where comfort, creativity, and cosmopolitan ease converge.
My journey began at Oriente bus station, just a few minutes' walk away. Even from a distance, the hotel’s grand silhouette caught my eye—its architectural form both bold and graceful against the city skyline. Designed by renowned architect Eduardo Capinha Lopes, both Martinhal Lisbon Oriente and Martinhal Residences have become striking landmarks in the area.
Martinhal Lisbon Oriente, a contemporary hotel with 82 distinctive rooms, and Martinhal Residences, a collection of 70 luxury serviced apartments, are crafted with both family and business travellers in mind. Their location offers effortless access to major transport links, shopping malls, and dining spots—but the real story unfolds once you step inside.
The hotel greeted me with an unexpected sense of home. The layout is functional yet flowing, the ambience cosy, and every design element feels intentional. Local artworks—by Bordalo II, Graça Paz, Kruella d’Enfer, Tamara Alves, Vasco Águas, and Pedro Batista—aren’t just decor; they are woven into the aesthetic, giving the space its own visual rhythm and a real sense of place.
I stayed in a one-bedroom apartment that felt like a mirror to my own taste—warm mustard yellow bedding, soft greys, and deep blues, accented with just enough white to keep it all light and calm. It had a separate living space and a Fabri kitchen fitted with SMEG appliances. But what thrilled me the most? The washing machine and dryer. After days of travelling, it was the simple luxury of clean clothes that made me breathe easier and feel renewed for the next leg of my journey.
Martinhal Oriente didn’t just offer rest—it gave me a reset. A quiet recharge wrapped in modern design, thoughtful service, and small comforts that matter more than you realise until you're on the road.
And if your travels extend further, the Martinhal experience continues across Portugal—from the windswept charm of Martinhal Sagres Beach Resort to the family-friendly suites in Chiado and Quinta do Lago. Wherever you go, that same feeling follows: of being far away, yet somehow right at home.
