Namli Haus: A Contemporary Home in Jaipur
Words by Kerol Izwan. Photos by Namli Haus.
This is not my first time in Jaipur, yet arriving at Namli Haus feels completely new. From the quiet corner it occupies among the rustic houses of Civil Lines, to the warm smiles and hot masala chai that greeted me after a seven-hour journey from Delhi, everything feels thoughtful and welcoming. Each room tells its own story, from forest green to lapis blue and blood red, and even the spiral staircases invite me to slow down and take it all in. It feels less like checking into a hotel and more like stepping into a home that has been waiting for me to notice its details.

There are places that announce themselves loudly, and then there are places like Namli Haus—quietly confident, expressive without excess, and deeply intentional in the way they reveal themselves. Jaipur is a city known for grand havelis, royal palaces, and streets alive with history, yet Namli Haus chooses a different approach. Nestled in the serene Civil Lines neighborhood, this boutique bed & breakfast sits tucked away on a quiet corner, offering the rare combination of calm, charm, and careful design. On this trip, I arrived from Delhi late in the evening, weary from a seven-hour journey, and was immediately welcomed by the warm smiles of the staff and a hot cup of masala chai alongside a classic Indian dinner. It was a simple gesture, yet one that spoke volumes about the care and thoughtfulness embedded in the house.
Stepping into my Haus King Room on the ground floor, I felt a sense of ease that only comes from being in a place designed for both comfort and reflection. The mansion’s five rooms, each distinct in colour and design—from forest green to lapis blue to blood red—reflect a celebration of eclectic taste and careful curation. Every ceiling detail, piece of furniture, and even the spiral staircases invites guests to slow down, notice, and enjoy the subtle rhythms of the space.

Namli Haus is defined by its refusal to conform to the typical Jaipur aesthetic. Instead of ornate façades and predictable haveli motifs, the house speaks in a modern, understated language enriched with hints of mid-century design. Clean lines meet playful geometry, and confident colours emerge without overwhelming the senses. The property doubles as a gallery, where murals and illustrations punctuate hallways and walls, guiding movement and creating small moments of pause and reflection.
Walking through the house feels like exploring a living gallery, each corner revealing a story or detail waiting to be noticed. The art, paired with thoughtful design, forms a quiet dialogue with Jaipur itself—vivid and alive yet measured and intentional. Even the courtyards, corners, and breakfast nooks are composed with care, hinting at spaces designed for contemplation, conversation, and quiet observation. Namli Haus balances the lively energy of the city with spaces that invite retreat, a rhythm that feels restorative without ever disconnecting guests from the surrounding culture.

The rooms and common spaces continue this philosophy, offering warmth, personality, and comfort without excess. Each space reflects the idea of slow living, where the smallest details—from painted doors to carefully chosen furniture—create a sense of intimacy and individuality. The mansion’s design feels human, approachable, and lived-in, rather than staged. Hospitality here follows the same ethos: attentive without intrusion, present without pressure. Guests can inhabit the space at their own pace, exploring, resting, or simply observing the interplay of colour, texture, and light.
The house encourages moments of pause, reflection, and connection, whether alone or with companions. It is precisely this sense of care, paired with thoughtful design, that makes a stay at Namli Haus feel not just luxurious, but soulful. The property’s location in Civil Lines further enhances this, offering a serene escape from the city’s busier quarters while still allowing easy access to Jaipur’s vibrant streets and cultural landmarks.
